Reason to Breathe- Rebecca Donovan
Emily has a secret. It has to do with her aunt, Carol, who despises Emily’s every breath. Emily is always getting bruises,cuts, and injuries inexplicably. Only her best (and only) friend, Sara, knows about it. She she manages to just stay invisible, or so she thinks. But this is High School, and no one can be invisible. And when a gorgeous and seemingly flawless boy named Evan arrives at her school, he no longer lets her blend in with everyone else. He draws her in and keeps her there, in hopes to give her a reason to breathe.
Despite being a chilling story of a hard working girl fighting though terrible circumstance, it is also well- written. The way Donovan describes emotions is superb. Reason to Breathe has a little bit of everything: friends, dating, love, school, stress, parties, strife, and, most of all, determination.
